A fingerprint browser isolates the account; the proxy decides how its network looks. Pick the wrong proxy type and even a perfectly isolated profile gets flagged. Here is how the main options differ and when to use each.

Datacenter proxies

IPs from cloud/hosting providers. Fast and cheap, but easy for platforms to identify as non-residential.

  • Good for: scraping public data, tasks where the site does not scrutinize network origin, high-volume automation on tolerant targets.
  • Risky for: logged-in accounts on strict platforms (social, marketplaces), where a datacenter IP under a "real person" account is an obvious tell.

Residential proxies

IPs assigned by ISPs to real homes. They look like ordinary users, at higher cost and usually lower speed.

  • Good for: logged-in accounts on strict platforms, region-sensitive tasks, anything where the account must look like a normal resident.
  • Watch out for: rotation. For a logged-in account you want a stable residential IP, not one that changes every request — a sender that "moves" each session looks compromised.

Mobile proxies

IPs from mobile carriers (4G/5G). The most trusted for the strictest platforms because many real users share carrier IPs, but the priciest.

  • Good for: the hardest accounts (aged social accounts, high-value assets) where residential still gets challenged.

ISP (static residential) proxies

Residential-looking IPs hosted in datacenters for stability — a middle ground: residential trust with datacenter speed and a fixed IP.

  • Good for: logged-in accounts that need both trust and a stable IP.

The rule that matters more than the type

Whatever type you choose, the proxy must be consistent with the account's environment. Timezone, language, and geolocation should match the IP's region. A US-timezone profile behind a German IP is a contradiction the platform sees regardless of how "residential" the IP is. (See proxy alignment.)

And keep one stable proxy per profile. Sharing one IP across many accounts clusters them; rotating a logged-in account's IP looks like a hijack.

Quick guidance

  • Strict logged-in accounts (social, LinkedIn, marketplaces): residential or mobile, stable, region-aligned.
  • Scraping / tolerant automation: datacenter is fine and cheaper.
  • Need trust + a fixed IP: ISP/static residential.
